My daughter at Easter. I love capturing emotions rather than just poses.
My daughter in a more official portrait setting. She's 3 here and old enough to pose. This was taken at the zoo, a good example of how non-traditional places make for great portraits.
I don't know what these flowers are but capturing the dew on them was exactly what I was going for, an overcast sky helped make this possible, oh and a fill flash.
Yellow, I find, is hard color to capture effectively it takes bright diffuse light to get it on an image.
My daughter was a little over 2 in this photo and just learning how to pose for a photo.
Children don't have to be looking at the camera for a wonderful photo.
This is a recent photo, and goes to show that I have a long time fascination with back lighting flowers. Hard to do but oh so worth it.
Love this deep pink color. Color saturation is always important.
A back lit flower again, just can't get away from this idea.
I love this shot, also recently taken. I was so happy to capture the water droplets on the petals.
My daughter is about nine months here. Lovely shot with so much fun.
She looked down at her toes and I captured this shot. She looks so thoughtful and mature.
These two handsome men are a good example of how animals can be portraiture as well as humans. You really do have to approach it the same way.
Blackwater Falls. always take your camera along on vacations. While I don't advocate making a vacation a working vacation, you never know what you'll see.
A black and white image taken early in my photography career. Heavily manipulated on the computer. Still love this image.
This is where I discovered that elephants can tell when you're trying to take their photo.
Always a black and white photo, I added the blue tint. I love this photo and it goes to show that taking photos of what you love means your emotion comes through in the image.
I love this photo. Originally color I removed all color but for the sunlight.
Dogs, especially mutts make for great photography subjects.
It pays to hang off a rock for a good shot.
I've always been fascinated with butterflies, while I don't think this is the best shot, it's the best one I've captured.
I really think cropping is important. This is a good example of cropping out everything else.
I just loved the contrast of orange and purple.
Again color saturation, very imporant.
I love the orange veins in this orchid.
It's about joy and capturing emotions more than just a posed moment in time.
It's about listening to your subject. I wanted my daughter to pose a different way, she wanted this pose, and she was right.
